My Current Foundation Routine: Fresh and Glowing Skin

Hi loves, hope you’re all having a lovely Monday! I’m going to be sharing with you my current foundation routine where I will be telling you each product I use on my face, as well as cheaper alternatives for each product. I won’t be discussing eye make up or lip products since I will be doing a post soon on my daily routine. So this will just be a quick post on the products I use to achieve my daily “flawless” skin. So if you’re interested in hearing the products I use, keep on reading!

Cleanse: Before I begin my makeup, whether it is the morning or the afternoon, I like to do my daily skin care routine (if you are interested in a more depth skincare routine I have a post with all the details that I will link (https://samboulosbeauty.com/2015/05/29/daily-skincare-routine-lushs-mask-of-magnaminty/). Washing your face before makeup application ensures that your skin will have no oil or dirt on the surface. This will ultimately make the application of your makeup a lot smoother as it is on a clean surface. Once my face is cleansed, I add my moisturizer and I am ready to start my makeup.

Prime: Once the moisturizer is absorbed into the skin, it is prime time! My favourite primer at the moment is the Benefit Porefessionals Primer. I love this primer since it is silicone based which will fill in any pores or wrinkles. I like to focus this around my nose and forehead where I tend to have larger pores and where I get oily. By filling in the pores, this will not only create the illusion of smooth skin, but help to reduce the amount of oil that is released throughout the day- ultimately making your makeup last longer. An alternative for this product is the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. Although I do not own this primer, I have heard many great things about it in comparison to Benefit Porefessionals.  10552666-1361800643-374273IMG_4475

Foundation: My favourite foundation at the moment is the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. I’ve talked about this foundation in another post more in depth; however, this is a great foundation for oily skin. It stays matte throughout the entire day and lasts amazingly. I never find myself having to touch up or even blot in my t-zone which is a huge bonus for me! When you initially apply this foundation it is full coverage, but depending on how you apply it, it is easy to be sheered out. Applying it with a dense flat top brush will give you the fullest coverage opposed to applying it with a damp beauty blender, which will give you light to medium coverage. This foundation is also great since it has a wide range of colours to choose from! (I wear the shade 103 Natural Buff for those of you who are curious) This foundation is very comparable to Estée Lauder Double Wear but is less than half the price. Double Wear is one of my all time favourites, but since I found the Infallible, I have been using this as my daily foundation. Overall, I recommend both foundations, it is just a matter of your price point!!

Concealer: Mac’s Pro Longer Wear concealer is my ride or die concealer. I love this concealer and have been using it for around 2 years. It has amazing coverage and lasts all day (hence “pro long wear”). This concealer is great for the under eyes since it does not crease and won’t settle into any fine lines or wrinkles. Now for those of you who don’t want to spend $25.00 on a concealer, my favourite drugstore concealer is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. This concealer has a very wide colour range and retails for around $10.00. I love this concealer since it has a medium to full coverage and works really well for brightening up my under eye. It doesn’t crease on me throughout the day provided that it is set with a powder!

_6200737 Set: Setting your foundation and concealer is a very important step in keeping your makeup in place all day and avoiding getting oily. When setting my face I like to use Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural. I love this powder since it has a very light sheen to it which keeps your skin looking radiant and healthy. To set my face I use the Mineralize Skin Finish in the shade “medium” and for my under eye I use the shade “light”. For an alternative, my go to drugstore setting powder is the Rimmel Stay Matte compact powder. This powder is an oldie, but a goodie! I have used this powder since I started wearing makeup in grade school. I love this powder since it is very sheer but does a great job in keeping you shine free all day! It does not make you look cakey as some powders can, it is finely milled and gives a very sheer coverage. I use this powder in the shade “Translucent” and since it has no colour, I am able to use it to set both my under eye concealer as well as the rest of my face without changing the shade of my foundation.

Blush: My blush differs depending on my makeup, I don’t use the same blush everyday. I do have some favourites which are both drugstore and they are the Milani Baked Blushes! I cannot express how much I love these blushes. They are super affordable and are amazing quality. These blushes are super pigmented and give your skin such a beautiful glowy look. My two favourite shades are “Luminoso” and “Berry Amore”. I would reccomend these blushes for any occasion whether it is eveyday or going out. They last all day and are comparable if not better than any high end blush.

Bronze: Commonly, when I apply my bronzer, I use my Kat Von D Shade Light Contour palette to bronze and contour my face. On a day to day basis, I usually only bronze my skin and I find myself using my Too Faced Chocolate Soiel Bronzer in the shade “Chocolate”. I like this bronzer as it doesn’t look muddy or patchy on the skin and it is warm toned so it adds natural looking colour to the skin. Another bronzer I like to use from the drugstore is the Rimmel London Shimmering Maxi Bronzer. I love this bronzer because it has a warm undertone and gives the skin a very natural, subtle, sun kissed look!

Highlight: My favourite and final step, the highlight. Highlighting acts as the illusion that you have more prominent features, therefore you apply your highlight on the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of nose, Cupid’s bow etc…). My current favourite highlighter is from the brand Pixi! I purchased an eye shadow/blush palette, the Ultimate Beauty Kit 2nd Edition, which contains 4 highlight shades and they are amazing! The pigmentation is great and the colours range from pink to golden undertones. These highlighters are amazing quality and I would recommend them for any skintype and skin colour since they are so universal.

And that completes my current foundation routine! Let me know what you guys think in the comments and please share your thoughts if you use any of these products! Thank you for taking the time to read today!

Talk to you soon! Xx
