Hi Beauties!! Since school begins next week, I thought that I would make a post about a quick and easy makeup look that won’t take up your entire morning. With early mornings and long school hours, having the most amount of time in bed before getting ready is the best, so this makeup look is essential for those of you who are not morning people! Not only is this look super quick, I also used all drugstore products in order to be cost efficient. So, if you’re interested in learning how to achieve this back to school makeup look, please keep reading!
First thing I do when I wake up is wash and prep my skin for the day, regardless if I wear makeup or not. I begin with my daily morning skincare routine which is washing my face with my Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. I love this wash as an everyday cleanser, especially since I have oily skin and the charcoal in the wash aids towards removing blackheads and excess oil. To moisturize, I use my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. This is a great daily moisturizer to use prior to makeup application as it is an oil-free gel with a very light weight and hydrating formula. Lastly, I apply a lip balm to prep my lips before my makeup, which will make applying lipstick later on much more smooth and easy. The lip balm I used was the EOS lip balm in Vanilla Mint.
Prime: priming your face before foundation is essential to have your makeup last all day at school. The primer I used is the Rimmel London, Stay Matte Primer. Using a mattifying primer will blur out the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores, and give the illusion of flawless skin, as well as keeping your makeup intact and lasting all day.
Foundation: for foundation, I used the Maybelline Fit Me, Matte and Poreless foundation in the shade Classic Ivory 120. This foundation is perfect for everyday wear as it has a light-medium coverage and feels very light weight on the skin. Unlike other foundations that can exaggerate pores on the skin, this foundation blurs and perfects the skin and lasts around 6-8 hours which is ideal for school!
Concealer: to conceal my under eye area and to highlight my face, I used my favourite drugstore concealer which is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in the shade “Fair 15”. Using a concealer 2-3 shades lighter than your complexion will brighten up any area of the face you highlight and give the illusion of more prominent features. I like this concealer since it is very lightweight, yet still provides a great amount of coverage without creasing throughout the day.
Powder: to set my foundation and concealer I used a light amount of the Pixi Flawless Beauty Powder in the shade “Fair”. This is a great powder for setting your makeup in place without adding extra coverage. Doing this step will ensure your foundation doesn’t slide around on your face, while still giving a natural, healthy look to the skin.
Bronzer/Blush: now that the face is generally flat looking, to add more warmth and liveliness to the face, I added a very warmed toned bronzer around the perimeters of my face, not contouring, but slightly bronzing up my complexion. To do so, I used the Rimmel London Shimmering Maxi Bronzer. For blush, I used Milani cosmetic’s baked blush in the shade “Berry Amore”. This blush gives a very healthy, natural glow since the colour is close to the natural flush your cheeks have. The blush has a very beautiful gold shimmer which gives a dewy, glowing look to the skin.
Highlight: to highlight the face (cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow, brow bone), I decided to use a cream product opposed to a powder. Doing this will give a more natural appearance, as though you are glowing from within. When using creams, they tend to look more like “skin” as they melt into the foundation and products applied previously, opposed to a powder just sitting on top of the skin. The product I used is the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo cream eye shadow in the shade “70 Barely Branded”.
Brows: since I have naturally full eyebrows, for an everyday look, I like to keep them looking clean by only filling in the sparse areas. To do so, I used the Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil in the shade “Blonde 04”. To set my brows into place, I used a clear eyebrow gel to ensure that no hairs fall down, creating a messy unpolished look. I also used an Essence product, which was the Lash & Brow Gel Mascara. Both of these products are under $2.00 each which is amazing for the quality, I highly recommend them!
Eyes: for this look, I kept the eyes very simple as I don’t like heavy eye makeup for school. Some days I would wear a winged liner; however, for this look I used only two products. In order to “contour” my eyes, and add a little more depth, I took the bronzer I used to warm up my face, on a large blending brush and blended that into the crease to give some definition. I then applied my favourite mascara which is the L’oreal Telescopic Mascara in “Carbon Black”, and the eyes are complete!
Lips: to finish off the look, I applied two lipsticks from Milani Cosmetics in order to achieve a natural, mauve nude lip. The first lipstick applied was the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in the shade “Naturally Chic” which is a brown/mauve shade, all over the lips. Then, to add some depth and fullness, I took Milani’s lipstick in the shade “Nude Creme” and applied that directly to the center, and blended the two together.
That completes the entire look! This look is great for both school and work or just an every day routine. This is very wearable for all ages whether you’re in high school or university/college.
