My Fall SKINCARE Routine

The weather is changing from warm to windy and that calls for an updated skincare routine! Skincare can be tricky because there is an overwhelming selection of products on the market, however, I recommend taking the time to search and invest in quality skincare that is tailored to your skin type and needs. Of course everyone’s skin is different, so some of these products may work for you and others may not. I personally have combination to oily skin (oily in my t-zone and dry around my under eyes and mouth). I have been consistent with this routine for the past month and I have been extremely satisfied with the look of my skin!

Step 1: Remove Makeup

LUSH Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

If you are like me and you wear foundation on a daily basis, throughly removing your makeup at the end of the day is essential to maintain clear skin. I have not used makeup removal wipes in over a year as they caused me to break out and I found myself using up an entire package within a week (#CakeFaceProblems). I came across this cleanser about 6 months ago and it is the best product I have used for breaking down makeup while not drying out my skin.

Step 2: Cleanse

SkinMedica AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser

Cleansing is a step in your skincare routine that is essential, but usually serves a different purpose for everyone. There are so many reasons why I love and recommend this cleanser-one being that it is great to use throughout the entire year. In the past, I suffered from very textured, porous skin and this cleanser has improved both of these issues immensely.  While lightly exfoliating the skin, this cleanser works to brighten and even out skin tone as well!

Step 3: Tone

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

Because I don’t cleanse my skin in the morning, I love to tone my face to remove any build up and to create a clean canvas before my makeup. This toner works to remove any access oils and impurities while rejuvenating the skin. Even though fall is here and the humidity is gone, my oily skin unfortunately is not and this toner is great in keeping my skin balanced!

Step 4: Serum

SkinMedica GlyPro Antioxidant Serum

Anti-aging products are something I have recently started using for preventative reasons. After I tone in the morning, I use this serum before applying any other products. The glycolic components in this serum aid towards preventing any signs of aging such as age spots and fine lines. Although I am not yet experiencing any signs of aging, (*knocks on wood*) I have been enjoying adding this into my morning routine as it instantly leaves my skin looking luminous, plump and rejuvenated.

Step 5: Moisturize

SkinMedica Rejuvenate Moisturizer

Incorporating a moisturizer into your daily  routine is something that is overlooked but so important. When we cleanse our skin, we are stripping the natural oils which need to be replenished. I like this moisturizer in particular as it provides a lot of nourishment and hydration, without leaving a greasy film on this skin. With having oily skin, I prefer a moisturizer that is quick absorbing and light-weight which is the reason that this moisturizer has made its way into my routine!

Step 6: Eye Cream

SkinMedica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream

Before I invested in a personalized skincare routine, I always viewed eye cream as a gimmicky product, however, since I have started using this, I have a new appreciation for eye cream advocates! Since having used this particular eye cream, the texture and over all tone of my under eyes is amazing. After every use, the area looks luminous, hydrated and smooth and acts as a beautiful primer for concealer.

Step 7: Masking

LUSH Rosy Cheeks & LUSH Cupcake

Using a face mask is something that I don’t do consistently (usually as a result of pure laziness), but I enjoy incorporating them into my routine as the season changes and my skin has different needs. Now that fall is here, my skin is producing less oil due to the lack of humidity. Rosy Cheeks has been my current favourite mask for the fall as it doesn’t provide an overwhelming amount of hydration, but it doesn’t completely mattify my skin. This mask is the perfect blend between balancing and calming. Whenever I am experiencing a break out or I find that my skin is congested (usually around Halloween when I am playing with TONS of makeup), I like to apply the Cupcake mask to my areas of concern. This mask helps to remove oils and dry out any impurities!!
